A Unique Setting

Once referred to by Queen Elizabeth as 'The Prettiest Town in Canada', Goderich is also the oldest town on the Canadian shore of Lake Huron.

Visitors are always welcome to experience its harmonious blend of yesterday's memories and today's charm.

Built in 1896, the Hotel Bedford is located on the focal point of Goderich's unique town square. Just walk out the front door and you are back into a world of small town hospitality. Stroll a few blocks further and you can enjoy the past at the Historic Gaol or in the town's famous Pioneer Museum.

If water sports are your pleasure, the beach and marina are also within walking distance. Golf and tennis facilities are nearby and it's only minutes to the popular fishing area.

In the winter, there is snowmobiling and some of the best cross country skiing and snow trails you will find anywhere.

Goderich also has many special events scheduled throughout the year. The summer months are famous for the Arts & Crafts Festival, the Celtic Festival, Summerfest, Canada Day Celebrations, the grueling Triathlon and more. Christmas sees many festivities around Goderich and the lights in the Courthouse Square are a must see during the holiday season.

And then, of course, there is the famous Goderich sunset - one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world - and, if you make your way up the bluff, you may actually see it twice!
